Belgian-Peruvian artist Shirley Villavicencio Pizango, better known as Shurleey, is a rising star in the art world, with her vibrant portraits shown as far away as New York. Serax brings her painterly universe to life in ceramic form. First came a series of vases; now there is a collection of ten plates, each featuring its own scene. The illustrations of flowers, plants and fruit radiate the warmth and wildness of the tropics. It’s no surprise: Shurleey grew up in Santiago de Borja, a small village in Peru along a tributary of the Amazon River. With this hand-painted collection, Shurleey’s art becomes more accessible than ever.
