Gabriela Hearst takes inspiration from her upbringing on her family’s farm in Uruguay where the notion of luxury meant things were beautifully crafted and made to last. Launched in 2015, the New York-based label focuses on ‘honest luxury’ with every carefully considered piece being crafted from materials including silk, cashmere, linen and wool from her family’s ranch. Hearst also works with two women’s cooperatives in Uruguay and endeavours to minimise the environmental impact of her fashion shows by reducing the carbon footprint of each presentation.
